Het Scheepvaartmuseum Streete View

This is the map of the world from the Atlas made by the famous cartographer Blaeu in 1635.

Click the marker on this map to go back to the 17th century map of Amsterdam. We have added ‘Streete View’ to this map so that you can also have a look at street scenes from Golden-Age Amsterdam. Drag the little figure to a marker on that map to see a print or etching of the location made by a 17th-century contemporary of Blaeu.

More highlights from the works of famous cartographers like Mercator and Blaeu are on view in The Atlases exhibition in Het Scheepvaartmuseum (the National Maritime Museum) in Amsterdam.
